Walls and Ceiling

Garage walls are typically unplastered blockwork or brick — this requires a masonry primer (either roller-applied diluted PVA or purpose-made masonry stabilising primer) to consolidate the surface before any emulsion coat. We then apply two coats of a masonry emulsion for a clean, bright finish — Dulux Trade Supermatt is our standard garage interior specification, providing excellent coverage on uneven masonry surfaces and a clean finish that photographs well and brightens the space considerably.

Garage Floors

Garage floors benefit enormously from a proper floor coating. For domestic use, we specify either Dulux Trade Floor Paint (a single-pack water-based formulation that significantly outperforms budget floor paints) or a two-pack epoxy system for maximum durability and a premium finish. A mid-grey or stone floor colour with white walls creates a clean, professional space.

Converting a Garage for Habitable Use

For garages being converted into home offices, gyms, or hobby rooms, the decoration specification changes to match the habitable interior: skim-plastered walls decorated with standard interior emulsion, insulated and boarded ceilings treated as standard interior space, and floor screed or engineered timber rather than floor paint.
