Spray Painting Kitchen Cabinets & Woodwork in London: Is It Worth It?

Freshly decorated interior room in a Hampstead property for Spray Painting Kitchen Cabinets & Woodwork in London: Is It Worth It?

Spray painting kitchen cabinets, fitted wardrobes, and architectural joinery has become an increasingly popular specialist service in North London over the past five years. The technique produces a visibly superior finish to brush and roller application — completely smooth, without brush marks, stippling, or any surface texture — that genuinely replicates the factory-applied finish of new cabinetry.

How Spray Painting Works

Professional spray painting of in-situ joinery uses an HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray system that atomises the paint into a fine mist and applies it at low pressure to minimise overspray. The preparation process is extensive: all cabinet doors are typically removed from their hinges, all surfaces degreased, sanded, and primed, and then the finish coats applied with multiple fine passes to build up an even, glossy or satin film. The room and surrounding kitchen are carefully masked with specialist paper and plastic to contain any overspray.

Products Used

We use Teknos Futura Aqua (a water-based two-component lacquer with exceptional hardness and durability) as our primary spray product for kitchens and joinery — it dries to a hard, chip-resistant film that stands up to daily cabinet use far better than standard emulsion or eggshell. Farrow & Ball colours can be matched into a two-pack lacquer system for clients who want the specific colour palette combined with the superior finish.

Is It Worth the Cost?

Spray painting a full kitchen is typically 40–60% of the cost of a new kitchen, with a significantly shorter lead time and no need to replace appliances, worktops, or units that are sound. For a premium kitchen with good bones but tired paint or a dated colour, spray painting is frequently the most cost-effective renovation option.

We offer spray painting as a specialist service across NW3 and North London. Call 020 3874 2670 to discuss your project.
