We needed our entire ground and first floor redecorated, which was complicated by the Grade II listing and conservation area restrictions. David and his team were exceptional from the initial survey onwards. They used Farrow & Ball throughout — Elephant's Breath in the hallway, Pointing for the drawing room — and the finish is absolutely flawless. Every cornice, ceiling rose, and picture rail was carefully masked and cut in by hand. The whole job took three weeks and they were punctual every single morning. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Our Victorian terrace hadn't been painted externally for over twelve years and was looking very tired. The team spent two full days on prep alone — scraping, sanding, filling cracks in the render, and priming bare patches. They used Sandtex masonry paint for the facade and Little Greene on all the timber. The sash windows look brand new. Michael was brilliant at keeping us updated daily. Neighbours have already asked for their number.
We'd just purchased a two-bedroom flat that hadn't been touched since the 1990s. Every room needed doing — walls, ceilings, woodwork, the lot. Tom and James completed everything in just six days, which was remarkable given the amount of prep work required. The old artex ceilings were skimmed beautifully. We chose Little Greene French Grey for the living spaces and the finish is silky smooth. They even moved furniture back exactly where we wanted it. Brilliant service.
We have fourteen original sash windows across three floors and they were all in poor condition — flaking paint, some rot in the lower rails, and several with broken sash cords. The team stripped everything back, treated the rot with Repair Care, replaced cords, and applied three coats of Mylands eggshell. The windows now operate smoothly and look stunning. The attention to detail was extraordinary. This is skilled craftwork, not just painting.
Had our dated oak kitchen cabinets resprayed in Farrow & Ball Hague Blue. The finish is genuinely factory-quality — you'd never know they weren't new doors. The only reason for four stars rather than five is that the project took a day longer than the original estimate, as they needed an extra coat on the island unit. But the end result is superb and saved us thousands compared to a new kitchen. David was upfront about the delay, which I appreciated.
I've lived in Hampstead for thirty-five years and have used many decorators. Hampstead Painting Company are in a different league entirely. They redecorated our drawing room and library in Little Greene Basalt and Attic II respectively. The preparation was meticulous — every surface was properly washed, sanded, and primed. The cutting in around our ornate plasterwork was done entirely by hand with no tape. Perfection.
Our mews house needed a complete refresh inside and out. The team handled everything: exterior masonry, all the woodwork, and every room interior. What impressed me most was the colour consultation — they suggested a palette of warm neutrals that works beautifully with our oak floors. James led the project and his eye for detail is remarkable. Three coats on every surface, dust sheets everywhere, and they hoovered daily. Finished on budget and on time.
Living in a mansion block means dealing with building management, neighbours, and restricted access hours. The team coordinated everything seamlessly. They protected all communal areas, kept noise to reasonable hours, and even cleaned the shared hallway at the end of each day. The flat itself looks wonderful — they transformed our dark hallway with Farrow & Ball Light Blue and the bedrooms are perfect in Ammonite. Michael and Tom were a pleasure to have in our home.
Being in the Belsize Park conservation area meant we needed to match specific heritage colours approved by Camden planning. The team researched the original Victorian colour scheme for our street and proposed a palette using Mylands heritage range. The council approved it first time. The exterior work — facade, all joinery, front door, railings — took two weeks and the transformation is remarkable. Several people on our street have since had their properties done by the same team.
Our Arts and Crafts house has some lovely original features — inglenook fireplace, built-in window seats, carved timber details — that needed careful handling. David understood immediately what was required. The paint specification was different for each surface type, and they even sourced a specialist limewash for the fireplace surround. Eight rooms completed in two and a half weeks, every one immaculate. We've already booked them for the exterior next spring.
Bought a new-build flat where the developer's paintwork was frankly embarrassing — roller marks, missed patches, paint on the carpets. Hampstead Painting came in, sanded everything back, and redid every surface properly. It's like living in a different flat now. Four stars only because the original quote didn't account for how much remedial work the developer had left behind, so the final cost was higher. But fair enough — the work itself is faultless.
We needed the nursery and two children's bedrooms done before our third baby arrived. They used exclusively low-VOC and zero-VOC paints throughout — Edward Bulmer Natural Paint for the nursery and Little Greene Intelligent Emulsion for the older children's rooms. No smell at all the next day. Tom completed everything in three days and was incredibly careful working around the children's furniture. The feature wall in the nursery is gorgeous.
Our hallway runs from the front door up three flights with a high stairwell that must be eight metres at its peak. Previous decorators had refused to quote for it. The team erected proper scaffold towers and completed the whole stairwell in Farrow & Ball Strong White — walls and woodwork — over five days. The finish at the top is just as perfect as at eye level. Absolutely professional outfit. Worth every penny.
Our first floor flat in a converted Edwardian house needed freshening up throughout. James and Michael were brilliant — they worked neatly around our furniture, covered absolutely everything, and left each room pristine at the end of the day. We went with a calming palette of Little Greene colours: Slaked Lime in the bedroom, French Grey Pale in the sitting room. The quality of the brush and roller work is superb. We'll definitely use them again when we do the bathroom.
Our listed property required specialist heritage coatings — no modern masonry paint permitted. The team used Keim mineral paint on the rendered facade, which is breathable and appropriate for the building fabric. They also applied traditional linseed oil paint to all external timber. The English Heritage officer who inspected the work afterwards said it was exemplary. Finding a painting company that truly understands historic buildings is rare. These are the real deal.
Our garden flat had persistent damp issues in the front room that previous decorators had simply painted over. David identified the problem immediately, recommended a specialist damp survey, and once that was resolved, they applied proper damp-proof coatings before decorating. They used Zinsser for the barrier coat and Farrow & Ball for the top coats. The room has been fine ever since — no bubbling, no peeling. Honest, knowledgeable team who won't cut corners.
A major project — five bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, two reception rooms, and all hallways. The team of four worked through our house over four weeks, room by room, so we could continue living in the property. Communication was excellent throughout. Tom produced a detailed schedule at the start and they stuck to it. Every surface was prepared properly and the Farrow & Ball finishes throughout are beautiful. The house feels completely renewed. Outstanding project management.
We have original Georgian shutters and wall panelling in our reception rooms that needed careful restoration and repainting. The team hand-sanded every panel, filled tiny imperfections, primed with Zinsser BIN, and applied two coats of Little Greene Intelligent Eggshell. The shutters fold and close perfectly — no sticking, no paint bridges. This is proper craftsman-level work. Michael clearly takes enormous pride in what he does.
Had all exterior woodwork painted and a new colour for our front door — Mylands Flanders Blue, which looks fantastic. The woodwork prep was thorough and the paint finish is excellent. My only slight reservation is that parking on our street was difficult for their van, which caused a couple of late starts. But the quality of the finished work is genuinely excellent and the front door in particular gets constant compliments. Would still recommend wholeheartedly.
We needed our dental practice redecorated over a bank holiday weekend to avoid closing the surgery. The commercial team worked Friday evening through to Sunday night and had the entire practice — reception, four treatment rooms, waiting area, and staff room — completely redecorated. The finish is immaculate, the colours are calming and professional, and they were gone before Monday morning patients arrived. Extraordinary efficiency without any compromise on quality.
As an estate agent in Hampstead, our office needs to look impeccable. Hampstead Painting handled the complete redecoration including specialist finishes in our meeting rooms. They worked around our business hours, starting at 6am and finishing before we opened at 9am. The project took just four mornings. The quality reflects exactly the premium image our clients expect. We now recommend them to all our vendors preparing properties for sale.
Kitchen and bathroom painting requires specialist knowledge of moisture-resistant coatings and the team clearly know their stuff. They used appropriate bathroom-grade paint in the wet areas and Farrow & Ball Modern Eggshell for the kitchen woodwork and cabinets. The tiling surrounds were carefully masked and the finish around our Belfast sink is pin-sharp. Two rooms done in three days, left spotless. James even touched up a scuff mark they noticed on the hallway wall for free.
The exterior of our Edwardian semi hadn't been painted in over fifteen years. The team was thorough in their assessment — they identified areas of blown render, cracked lintels, and perished putty around the windows, all of which they repaired before any paint went on. The prep work alone took nearly a week. But the result is transformative. Neighbours barely recognised the house. Used Dulux Weathershield for the masonry and Little Greene for all timber and metalwork. First-class job.
Converted our spare bedroom into a proper home office and needed it decorated to feel like a serious workspace. David suggested a two-tone scheme with Little Greene Gauze below the dado rail and Loft White above, with all woodwork in a smart eggshell. He was absolutely right — it feels calm, professional, and much bigger than before. The whole room was done in two days including moving furniture out and back. Meticulous attention to detail.
Our architectural practice needed a complete paint finish for our newly converted studio space in Kentish Town. The brief was precise — we specified exact NCS colour references and required a perfectly flat matt finish throughout. The team delivered exactly what we asked for. No brush marks, no roller stipple, flawless coverage. They clearly understood the exacting standards architects expect. We've since specified them for two of our residential projects and the clients have been equally impressed.
Our estate agent recommended Hampstead Painting to prepare our house for sale. They redecorated the entire property in neutral tones within ten days — four bedrooms, two reception rooms, kitchen, and all hallways. The house went on the market looking immaculate and we received an offer within the first week of viewings, above asking price. The agent said the quality of decoration made a real difference. Money very well spent.
I'm the building manager for a mansion block of twelve flats in Swiss Cottage. We commissioned Hampstead Painting to redecorate all communal areas — entrance hall, three stairwells, and six landings. The logistics were challenging given constant foot traffic, but the team managed it superbly. They worked floor by floor, used quick-drying paints to minimise disruption, and communicated with residents throughout. The building looks magnificent and we've already contracted them for the exterior next year.
I'd been agonising over colours for our master bedroom and en-suite for months. The colour consultation service was invaluable — David brought large-format samples and we tried them in different light conditions across the day. We settled on Farrow & Ball Sulking Room Pink for the bedroom and Peignoir for the en-suite. The result is elegant and restful, exactly what we wanted. Tom did the painting over three days and his cutting in is the best I've ever seen. Genuinely perfect.
Our property is within the Hampstead conservation area and the previous owners had used inappropriate modern paints that were trapping moisture and causing the render to deteriorate. The team stripped everything back, let the walls breathe, and applied Keim silicate mineral paint — the same system used on many National Trust properties. The building can now breathe properly and the finish is beautiful. They really know their heritage coatings. Expensive but absolutely necessary and done to the highest standard.
With our first baby arriving in six weeks, we needed the nursery and guest room done quickly and safely. Michael completed both rooms in just two days using zero-VOC paints. He was quiet, tidy, and incredibly considerate — he even took his boots off at the door every time without being asked. The nursery in Little Greene Aquamarine is beautiful and there was genuinely no paint smell by the time we put the cot up the following day. Lovely experience from start to finish.
