Professional wallpaper hanging in Hampstead NW3 is one of the most technically demanding decorator skills. Period properties with uneven walls, complex chimney breasts, and numerous door and window openings require an experienced hand.
Substrate Preparation
Wallpaper will only look perfect if the substrate beneath is perfect. We always line walls with lining paper before hanging any decorative wallpaper — this bridges minor surface irregularities and gives the decorative paper a stable, even base to adhere to. In older NW3 properties we often hang double lining (two layers, cross-lined).
Luxury Wallpaper Specialists
Our Hampstead decorators have extensive experience hanging complex luxury wallpapers: Cole & Son hand-printed designs, de Gournay painted silk panels, Fromental hand-embroidered papers, and Designers Guild velvets. These papers require particular care — they are often pasted to the wall rather than the paper, must never be stretched, and pattern-matching must be calculated precisely from the outset.
Grasscloth and Natural Fibre
Grasscloth and other natural fibre wallcoverings are hugely popular in NW3 dining rooms and studies. They require specialist adhesive, careful handling to avoid water marks, and — critically — the seams will always be visible (this is natural and characteristic of the material).
