Listed Buildings: Consent Always Required

If your home is a listed building — and North London has a significant number, particularly in Hampstead Village, Highgate Village, and parts of Islington — any external works including painting require listed building consent. This applies even to internal works if they affect the special character of the building.

Listed building consent applications are assessed by the local planning authority and sometimes by Historic England.
