Original sash window painting and restoration protects period character and daily comfort. Stuck sashes, failed putty, and thick overpainting are fixable without defaulting to replacement — especially in conservation areas.
What a proper sash programme includes
- Assessment of movement, cords/weights, putty, and timber condition
- Controlled paint reduction where overpainting binds rails
- Putty and timber repairs before finish coats
- Flexible exterior joinery systems that move with the timber
