Period Property Painting Specialists in Hampstead NW3

Restored heritage property showcasing exterior decorating work for Period Property Painting Specialists in Hampstead NW3

Period property painting in Hampstead NW3 is our specialism. With 20 years of working exclusively in North London's Victorian, Edwardian, and Georgian housing stock, our decorators understand the unique requirements of pre-1919 masonry — from the correct breathable paints for solid walls to heritage colour palettes that honour the architecture.

Victorian Houses (1837–1901)

Hampstead's Victorian houses — terraced, semi-detached, and detached villas — have solid brick or stone walls, lime plaster interiors, and timber sash windows. These buildings require breathable exterior coatings (limewash, Keim silicate, or specialist mineral paints), permeable interior emulsions, and microporous paint on all external timber.

Edwardian Houses (1901–1910)

Edwardian properties in NW3 are slightly later and often have more adventurous detailing — pebbledash render, stained glass, Arts and Crafts woodwork. Pebbledash requires a breathable masonry paint that doesn't fill the texture, while Arts and Crafts woodwork merits careful attention to colours typical of that movement: sage greens, warm ochres, soft blues.

Georgian Houses (pre-1837)

The older Georgian properties around Hampstead Heath and Frognal are often listed or in conservation areas, requiring lime-compatible products throughout and, in some cases, Listed Building Consent before any decoration. Our decorators work closely with Camden Borough's heritage officers on these projects.
