The Challenge
A grand detached Victorian villa on East Heath Road overlooking Hampstead Heath needed a comprehensive exterior restoration. The property was within the Hampstead Conservation Area and had 18 original sash windows, many of which were sticking, draughty, and showing signs of timber decay. The facade had been painted with a modern acrylic paint that was trapping moisture and causing the underlying render to deteriorate.

Our Solution
We worked with the Camden Conservation Officer to agree an appropriate specification. The acrylic paint was carefully removed and the facade refinished with Keim Granital mineral silicate paint — a vapour-permeable system that allows the building to breathe. All 18 sash windows were overhauled: rotten timber sections were spliced with new Accoya, sash cords replaced, draught-proofing fitted, and each window finished with Teknos microporous paint. The entire project maintained the property's historic character while delivering modern performance.
